Award Winning Dog-Friendly Boutique B&B

On behalf of Fred and myself, welcome to Number 48, our Award-winning, Dog-Friendly, Boutique B&B, situated between  the Yorkshire Dales and Lake District National Park .  We are on the edge of the Westmorland Dales and the North Pennines Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. We hope to get the chance to meet you and have you sample our hospitality.

Our History

The B&B opened four years ago after completely renovating the property. Prior to his new career as a B&B host, Fred started a local micro-brewery, Appleby Brewery, and before that was a management consultant. Spending most of his life on aeroplanes, flying all over the world. Before opening the B&B, I was an Assistant Head in a busy children’s centre. We decided that we would like to try a different life. And the idea of a B&B was born. I took early retirement in 2016, Fred did a brewing course in 2014 and left his highly pressurised career and here we are now. We are now enjoying  meeting lots of new people and providing an experience which we would like to receive ourselves.

Our Ethos

We set out with the aim of creating a warm, welcoming Boutique B&B which was Dog-Friendly and the sort of place we would like to visit ourselves. We bought the house in 2015, and it is fair to say it needed a lot of love at that point.  Now the work is finished and we hope we have done the house justice, with our recent renovations in which we have invested 3 years of our lives to bring the house back to life. What you will find today is a quirky, Boutique, Dog-Friendly Bed & Breakfast and a very warm welcome. We have three fully en-suite, newly renovated rooms, all with Freeview TVs and USB charging points We are proud to have been awarded by TripAdvisor and the Local Tourist Board.  If you are looking for Boutique luxury in the Dales or Lakes, look no further.
